Foreword to the Renewable Energy Course
This course handout serves as the primary educational resource for the online course "Renewable Energies" offered to students at Ain Témouchent University - BELHADJ Bouchaib. The main objective of this course is to introduce students to career opportunities in
the renewable energy sector while exploring practical applications. These applications include domestic hot water production systems, drying installations, electricity generation in arid and off-grid regions, as well as the utilization of wind, biomass, and geothermal energy.
The course also covers important concepts such as service delivery in renewable energy systems.
The course will be delivered entirely online through Google Meet, with additional resources and assignments managed via the Moodle platform. To successfully follow this course, students should have prior knowledge of thermodynamics, heat transfer, and
turbomachines, as these subjects form the foundation for understanding renewable energy technologies.

Course Content Overview :
The course is divided into seven chapters, each focusing on key aspects of renewable energy. The first chapter, spanning two weeks, covers solar astronomy and its relevance to renewable energy. This is followed by a two-week study of Algeria's solar energy potential in
Chapter 2. Chapter 3, which runs for four weeks, delves into the thermal conversion of solar energy, including detailed examinations of flat-plate collectors, various solar concentration technologies (cylindrical, parabolic trough, paraboloid, and heliostat systems), and thermal energy storage solutions.

Assessment and Resources :
Student performance will be evaluated entirely through a final examination, which will account for 60% of the exam grade and 40% of the CC grade . This comprehensive handout has been developed drawing upon numerous specialized references in renewable energy. While not all sources are explicitly cited, each has contributed to creating this complete and pedagogically structured course material. The document's organization progresses logically from fundamental
